    Hi,
I'm wondering if it's possible to make a 1950's gents hat out of cardboard.
If anyone has any instructions on how to do this it would be a great help.
I'd guess i'd be using a thick cardboard like paper as well.
this is the kind of hat i'm making.
    Any instruction would be appreciated,
    thanks.

Short answer is no, I think.

One possibility might be to make a papier mache slab, but I can't really see how you would shape it without a hat block (mould). You get a sheet of newspaper, paint it generously with wallpaper paste, put another sheet on it and smooth down, spread more paste, add another sheet of newspaper and repeat until you have about 6 or 7 layers. This then makes a kind of slightly soggy leathery slab which is mouldable, and dries hard. Getting it from a flat slab to a hat shape requires some skill :D
