Alternatives to An Post?

Tried to send a parcel from Ireland to Spain. Made the mistake of mentioning that there was liquid inside (a bottle of whiskey). Guy behind counter said that An Post do not send liquids by post.

Now I checked on line and that was correct. Royal Mail do send liquids by post (as long as it is not more than 70% alcohol), but of course unless I drive up to Belfast I cannot use them.

Any ideas on an alternative? Is it limited to FedEx/DHL? They are quite expensive.

An Post send everything by air, so some liquids in bottles especially those with pressure (beers, champagne etc) can expode in the hold of an aircraft.

Whiskey should be fine (just don't tell them) or you could order from celtic whiskey shop and they'll do all the shipping for you.

Royal mail offer a road service to spain - that's why they can accept liquids.

Not a Consumer Issue. Moved to Online Buying & Auctions - more experience over there.
