This might be completely clutching at straws, but is it possible to use the Iphone's technological capabilities such as GPS to track it down if I've lost it? Which I have.

As I said this is a shot in the dark but an answer either way would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Did you have any locator/finder apps on it and activated? If so then yes otherwise I'm afraid not. Do the usual, send a text to it offering a reward and telling them you'll have the phone deactivated. It's a long shot but go for it.
