Why not? Could it not be recorded to a hd recorder that has a usb slot?

    its encrypted.

you could play back the program and record it onto dvd or video,
or via a tv card onto the laptop,

    Usb is not enabled

Yea, but as John Mac has mentioned, it is disabled. I was referring to a usb slot in the HD recorder. This would be the "long" way of doing it. If you are techie enough you can install the appropriate card in your lappy or desktop.

    Direct PC satellite Cards:
Only for FTA/Freesat. Not for Sky (not easily, not without a Sky Card and reader and it violates T&C).

Please be aware though, that there are no HD capture cards on the market.

So all the methods available at the mo would just give you a downscaled SD version of your recordings.
