I am getting the hair done on Thursday and have been trying to find something different to get done with it, but I can't seem to find any sites with a range of hair cuts to look at, seems there are a lot of dross sites out there. Anyone know a good one?

The hair is thick, wavy and pretty long it stop about the end of my sholderblades, I have round face and am looking for something of a change and maybe a little bit funky and while I am willing to have about 10 inches cut of I don't want to loose more the that, so suggestions please cos other wise I know I will just cave and get it trimmed and a few layers in to 'lighten' it.

I got my hair cut up short and put lots of funky layers in it, when you're more confident you can get more and more layers in it! The thing I like about layers is that you can flick them out and it's a change to your normal hair now! :)

I got a mullet in my hair once and got lots of blonde highlights in it and it was seriously badass. Alot of people from my english class in undergrad knew me as the girl with the mullet and thought it was really cool!

I really don't think mullet would before me at the age of 35 in all fairness.

It's a brave thing to do. But maybe a little chop and ask her to do something that's not too drastic. Have a look at a few hair magazines and show them some pictures you like!

Best thing you can do if you can't find anything jumping out at you is to ask the hairdresser! Tell her/him what way you wear your hair, how long you spend doing it and let them recommend something but listen very carefully!

Best of luck with it :D

i think a lot of layers and some that frame your face, like a side sweep long fringe would take the weight out of it. A long fringe has the benefit of different styles such as 50s rolls, Consider high/low lights, I don't know what colour your hair is. Mine is near black and I've blonde panels, its really given me more life to my hair.

Sadly there is a real lack of a good overall website on hairstyles online, trust me i've investigated this before and its miserable. I pick up a hair magazine generally if I fancy a change.

It's a dark brown with a natural aubrun hint in it.
I do want to be able tie it up/back off my face and have rocked the victory rolls look before but I don't know about a fringe I have never had one be fore and given the wavy nature of my hair figured one would just frizz up inot a mess.

It really amuses me when you look in the hair magazines in the hairdressers trying to get ideas for a new style, - the models always have these insane-looking styles which you wouldn't be seen dead in, -unevenly cropped and spikey and mad colours:eek:, like something out of a science fiction movie. Cant understand why they cant have pictures of normal styles for normal women!

Yeah I've found hairstyle websites and magazines tend to be a bit off the wall! What I've tended to do the last few times I've changed my hairstyle is to think of a celeb whose hair style I like and go in to Google images and pick pictures off that. Then you have something to show your hairdresser. I'm really liking Frankie Stanford from The Saturdays hairstyle at the mo. My pictures are at the ready for my poor hairdresser!!:D

There's quite a good tool on In Style Magazine's website. You take a (horrific) pic of you with your hair scraped back, upload it and then try out lots of celeb hairstyles.

It's limited as there aren't actually that many styles available and they tend to be quite 'done', nothing you'd be rocking on the way to centra, but it's a great way to try out lots of random styles. I did it last week and wrote a quick blog on it here, the results were pretty hysterical! I look like this:

I wanted to see whether I should lose the fringe:

Don't mean to hijack your thread :D But it is a brilliant way to see how a completely different style would look. Best of luck with finding the right 'do!
