Has anyone here ever ran the marathon in Seville? I'm looking for an early spring marathon on a flat course and came up with this. Looks like a well organised event.

Go for it :) PB course . Very reasonable entry Fee . Stadium Finish . Lovely City to visit. Weather should be pleasant for running . Ticks all the boxes imo.

Best value for a marathon. This year it was 5 degreesa thte start but got up to a balmy 8-9 by the finish.
There are no direct flights so the easiest way is to go Malaga and get the train from there.
The olympic stadium is at the edge of town and there isnt a great bus network . I ended up walking miles the day before to get to the expo and back. Taxi from town centre will be about 10yoyos.
Hostels are nice and also cheap. Mine was 24 € including breakfast i think.
Flat course . Definitley pb stuff.
Think there is a lot of info on this on a thread somewhere. MIght be worth a search. Also Lots on rwuk boards on it.
Am considering it myself again for next year.

    Thank everyone,

Yeah, I think this is the place to go for my next race. Is it far from Malaga to Seville on the train? Iberia fly from Dublin to Seville via Madrid for 225 euro, total trip time 5 hours including layover.

Thanks again, I'll be entering this in the next few days I'd say.

I think its about 45 mins on the train. If you check on teh renfe.es you will get details although you cant bok it til closer to the day. Return flights to malaga will probably cost you about 70yoyos and the train is about 20 I think. If you want a faster train it is closer to 40 I think. WIll see if I can dig out my credit card bill and see what it was exactly.

YOu get the train to malaga central from the airport and then onward from there. Its not a bad place to wait for the train as it is part of a shopping centre as well.

You are making me very tempted to go now.
Il be in USA in january and Barcelona in March so not sure if this is just downright indulgent. Have to work to earn the dosh to go first I reckon.

A friend of mine booked airlingus to madrid return and iberia from madrid to seville for about €150 total saturday to sunday. as already mentioned it is supposed to be a beautiful city so if you are going that far you should try and take an extra day or two. I would love to do it but it is a little bit too early. I might do Barcelona which also ticks all the boxes even though I've done it before and it is a bit easier to get to.

That sounds like a great price.
    Sounds very tempting.
Just checked and prices gone up again to about 100 yoyos per leg.
    Still hard to resiste though

Is it only €20 to enter? May be worth a visit then

Looks really good value for money all right and something to aim for after the Christmas indulgence! 6 weeks training should be enough if you can keep ticking over during the winter months.
Has anyone ran it before? Is it well organised, flat and what sort of a crowd does it get?

Entry in.. Yeah, it's just 20 euro. Great value. Flight I booked is Dublin-Madrid-Seville for 222 euro return with Iberia. That's about 60 quid more expensive than Dublin-Malaga with Aer Lingus and then getting the train to Seville from there but I think it just seems easier. Looks like there could be a few boardsies travelling!!

Do you think getting the train from Malaga would be too much hassle? Think somebody mentioned it was £40 or so. Was going to book with Aer Lingus but may reconsider this option should somebody who has done this event before offer some advice.

It wouldn't be huge hassle but from what I could figure out, you'd need to get a train from Malaga airport into main train station, then train to Seville from there. From my past experiences, I usually find these sort of transfers a bit of a stress, so for me, I'm happy enough to just pay the 60 euro or so extra to just stay in the airports.

That's what I did before as well. Lovely train journey down across Spain, albeit expensive.
One tip is to reserve and book the train in advance. I just turned up on the day and was waiting at the station for about 3 hours until there were vacancies. I think they leave every hour.

Also consider taking some pasta and energy bars with you to Spain. It's hard to get something suitable to eat the night before - virtually all meals are based on pork.
