New Laptop/Netbook

Hi

Would anyone be able to recommend a laptop/netbook? My current laptop is basically in bits. I'd be looking for something small, probably a screen size between 10" and 13". I'd be mainly using it for college and I'm doing Game Development, so I use VS2008/10, XNA, Dreamweaver a lot at the moment. My price range would be about 0 - €400, €450 at a stretch.

I was looking at this. But I don't know if it is of the right spec?

a netbook (like the sony) won't be powerful enough for you. For something small with reasonable power you would need something like this: -

better off stretching to the version for €529 which has the dual core processor.

A small screen pc (11 to 13 inch) with reasonable power is not going to be got for 400€ - you can get a bigger and less portable machine for that price though.

Depends if you need 4+ hours of battery life

If you do the new i3 ultra low voltage laptops are out

If you dont need that much battery you can get a standard i3 processor which will be faster, something like this

Both of these are faster than anything put up so far - and you might get them, or equivalent spec laptops for cheaper elsewhere if you shop around.

Word of warning about komplett though - if you are buying of them select collection and payment at pick up point as their stock isnt auto updated on the website anymore, and if they charge your credit card when you order (and it is out of stock, while showing on the website as in stock) you will be a long time getting the money back

Thanks, that second one looks quite good. I haven't decided where I would be buying it from yet, I would be wary of buying online, as it is a big investment. Also would anyone know a good place to sell a laptop, as some parts of mine could possibly be salvaged and used for someone else?

You will get better prices online, but you might pick up a deal in a bricks and mortar store. Maybe ask on the currys/pcworld forum if they stock them?

Also i have used adverts.ie a bit and would recommend it for selling things
