Like them or not, the French know how to protest

If they had our government I imagine they would have had Le Guillotine out long ago

Around 1,500 petrol stations located on the forecourts of French supermarkets have run out of fuel amid strikes against pension reform

While they are renowned for their protesting skills, how often do they achieve their objectives.

My friend went over to France to teach english. She's only been over there a month and they have stiked(?) at least three times. I went over to visit her last year in Bordeaux and she hadn't been to college in weeks as it wouldn't open due to the strikes! She was so bored she read her course work to keep herself sane!

If they want to keep stalling their economy over and over again then leave 'em to it.

They're a joke. If there was ever a case of a national stereotype becoming reality, this is it. I mean in a first world country where the life expectancy is going upward all the time, do they seriously think its realistic for the state to be paying them all pensions from the age of 60!

I actually admire the attitudes of some European country towards the work life balance. Id rather live in a country where theres a holiday every 2nd week, where we have 2 hour lunch breaks and we retire at 60. I hate the rat race myself. But you have to live in the real world too. If people live longer, they must work longer. Simple as. Of course you can retire anytime you like, but dont expect the state to subsidize it.

Because sitting around moaning about how terrible things are but not actually doing anything about it is better?

I admire them. At least they know how to say nah we're not having that. And ya better listen or will bring the country to its knees.
