'Paul' (Pegg, Frost, Batemen and Rogen's irritating voice!)

Love me a bit of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.. and Jason Bateman thrown into the mix. And while I don't mind Seth Rogen, using his voice is the equivalent of using Megan Fox for her "acting skillz"!

Just a "decent" teaser - need more footage to form a better opinion!

It has all the right ingredients, but the teaser doesn't give me much hope.

The bit at the end reminded me of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (the scene with the monkey) mixed with American Dad.

And you're right about Rogens voice. Very annoying.

I also get the feeling that this can go either way love/hate-wise. It's not going to be one of those "I liked it but........." kind of films.

Hmm, not the most interesting of trailers tbh. Paul as a character just looks and sounds a bit crap tbh! Otherwise the cast is promising, and Greg Mottola did direct the surprisingly good Adventureland, but he's working with very different material here, so will have to wait and see. But this teaser isn't compelling me to go to see this!

A new trailer has just been released.

    Looks decent enough.

When did Kirstin Wig become a headline name?

Thought it looked ok and will watch it,it remind me of American Dad and roger is the funniest thing in that so I guess theres hope.

Even if this will be terrible, I'll still watch it. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost together is usually gold.

The trailer looked pretty good, although Seth's voice is annoying - should have got Green!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Was tempted to go see it myself during the week.

    Have heard it's decent enough.

I'd have said kids based on the trailers.

why all the late 11pm and midnight showings?

I don't find Seth Rogan's voice annoying at all.

Went to see it there a couple of days ago. It has a couple of laughs in it (which you're bound to get with Pegg and Frost) but don't be expecting Shaun of The Dead. Worth a watch.

Saw it last Monday, thought it was brilliant. Very funny, loads of references to sci-fi films and some good cameos. Great film if you are a nerd.

Its 15A, btw, lots of cursing.

Thats just it. I thought all the references to sc-fi was great. It was great fun and passed the time.
Wasn't expecting much going to see it so was pleasently suprised :)

Not as good as "Shaun" but good non the less. One of the few decent comedies in the last while.

would put it a notch above Hot Fuzz and a far notch below Shaun of the Dead, some brilliant moments and not a bad plot either.

[nerd alert] so did you cop the music that the Redneck band were playing in the bar?

Totally, there's a lot of references like that, also the name of the Firework they bought, the warehouse Paul was in when on the phone to
    Spielberg
I enjoyed it, it's about the same as Hot Fuzz I think, not as good as Shaun..

Enjoyed it, not as good as Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz but still very good. Pegg and Frost still work well, now all we need is them and Edgar Wright to sort a third film.

"get your hands off my balls" epic stuff:D, was swaying a bit on this but bit the bullet and went to see it (heard it was sh1te, but couldnt really miss pegg and frost in the cinema), well worth it, not gonna win any awards, but it was much better than some of the tripe theyve tried passing off as comedies lately,

I'm planning on seeing this this weekend. Is it worth the watch?

I thought it was very good. Alot of big laughs in it and a good twist at the end.

Having said that, I must agree with all the people who said Seth Rogan has an annoying voice. I didn't know it was him until our first sighting of 'Paul' in the movie and I kinda went "Aw sh*t, this guy??"

For some reason, Patton Oswalt (Spence in King of Queens) popped into my head while I was watching it as someone who would've been a good voice for the alien.

Rogen's voice irritates me, Frost bugs me for some reason (possibly because he reminds me of a jackass I know) but I don't mind Pegg.

I'll give this a shot anyways, need a decent comedy.

this was yet another one those films i go see as theres nothing else on and i need a natchos fix and i gotta say.

    i LOVED it.

in fact im thinking of going to see it again which is not something i wouldve thought i'd say about this film.

maybe, like megamind, its because i get all the references. im sure it wont be as much fun for those not well versed in sci/fi / comics /pop culture, but if your under 40 i reckon you'll get a kick out of this.

im not a fan of pegg frost and co so i went into this just looking for a fun film and i got it.

in the end i cant ask more than that from a comedy.

    :)

I felt slightly underwhelmed by it when I was walking out of the cinema, but I think I'd been anticipating a lot more laughs. In saying that, it was funnier than Hot Fuzz, and the sweetness between Pegg and Frost would give anybody a warm feeling! I would definitely recommend it!

I wasn't a fan of it at all to be honest. I loved all the sci fi references and there was a few laughs here and there but overall I thought it wasn't that great

Haha Great film for its laughs

Story line was a bit childish though :D

Really enjoyed it, mostly because I didn't expect it to be better than HF or SoTD.

    I'd say a 7/10.

Look forward to last of the Trilogy now

Goes to show just how good Edgar Wright is. This is not a patch on Shaun or Hot Fuzz or even Scott Pilgrim. Was lazily written and completely obvious.

Bring on the last of the Cornetto Trilogy.

I thought it was great. Exactly what I want from my films - humour, action and lots of sci-fi references...
