grading is one thing, how about a guide to pricing, BEFORE cattle are killed.....

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Jeez, but the IFA guide is a clear as mud. Is there not a guide with explanatory notes? Its only in the last two years that I've started finishing cattle and I want to understand the statement from the factory better! If I can understand it perhaps I can do a better job of finishing them.

Is there any guide with pictures as to what a U grade is versus an R or and O? What does O-3 mean?

ya very little difference between a 3- and a 3= fat score but factories have it all sorted so they make most money because the qps is based on a 'science'

maybe get on to the factory if they have leaflets on it??? there are pictures in a teagasc book i had in college alright but thats on the old grid

Teagasc have books with these guidelines in them. They include pictures and diagrams etc. I saw a man that was doing the green cert that had them.

i think 0-3 is your fat class ideal fc on bulls and heifers is fat class 4. 5 is very fat and not efficent 3 has room for improvment

That's a good game. A good dealer would even tell ya what weight they would kill out at.

Is an R= grade pronounced 'R equals'

Also if a factory quotes a price, is that for R grades or what??

Bit out of date but hope it is of some use.

Another stupid question, but when factories say they're giving whatever amount "off the grid", what does that mean?
