now that this facility is open to amazon.co.uk does it mean we can take advantage of it......just upload the file of your novel to amazon dtp, set a price and claim 70% of profits, is this too good to be true? has anybody done it? maybe not a big kindle market in Ireland and would require lots of marketing...but you know what there's not a lot to lose by sticking your novel up there

anyone can shed any more light on this then go ahead

I'm seeing more and more kindles around, but in any case, all the smart phones can download kindle for free, and you can then buy kindle books from Amazon.

The real problem is the same as anyone who self publishes, you have to have someone to do a good professional edit, or you can miss horrifying stuff, and you then have to publicise the book and persuade people to buy it. Just because it's up on Amazon doesn't mean that people will stumble across it by accident.

Many people find that their first novel is the learning curve, and when they've written a second one, they are a bit embarrassed by the first one, and glad it was quietly buried where no-one could see it. If you publish a first novel that isn't ready, it's going to be up there, ready to embarrass you in years to come.

Always use a pseudonym for your first novel. If it's a success, keep the name; if not, it had nothing to do with you.
