Coping with Loneliness

I am posting here as I'm looking for advice on how to cope after a break up. I was with my ex 4 years and we broke up last week. I'm fine about the break up but the loneliness is killing me.

I'm fine during the day while my son is awake but when he goes to bed I'm lost. I only have one person I'm close to who lives too far away to see regularly. I have hobbies in walking and aerobics but am extremely shy and find it next to impossible to approach people and talk. Not close to my family and whats worse is my laptop even broke and I cant afford a replacement so all I have at night is the TV. I lost my job back in June and cant find one anywhere so all I have is conversations with my baby and myself.

I've been trying to get by but its getting unbearable. Has anyone any advice on how to manage this?

    Hi Op,

Maybe you might get better responses if you put this in the Parenting section?

One way of making new friends is to see if there are any parent and baby groups in the area. Yes it is tough the first few times but its worth going as you can meet people from your area there. Also children are great ice breakers in these places. :)

Its early days for your break up you are bound to feel low right now. Give yourself some time and try to stay busy. Do lots during the day to tire yourself so you can get some sleep at night. But be patient with yourself. It will get easier but it does take time.
