Acer 6920g- 2 yrs old-needs new power board!

    Hi,

I bought an Acer 6920g all singing, all dancing blu-ray laptop in September 2008. In September 2010 I bought a new non-original battery and power charger, as both originals had died.

This week the laptop has completely died, when I plug the power cable into the power socket all I get is a very slight clicking noise, whether the battery is in or out.

First question is should I approach Acer, the laptop came with a 12 month guarantee which is over, but I have heard you can claim based on the expectancy of a product. To me a laptop costing €900 should not die within in 2 years. Can I approach the small claim court?

Second question, anyone know if this problem with the power board is fixable? If it is, any recommendations where and at what cost?

    Thanks,

    Branners

get onto acer, dont tell them you used a after market power supply.

worth a shot, that or renew your warranty, wait a month and do the above

and no, 2 years should not signal the end of a nice sexy laptop. :)
