So, i'm changing my phone soon, and will need to invest in a Micro SDHC card, but i'm stumped about two things.

    1) Is it really worth paying extra for a say Class 2 card over and above a class 6?

    2) Why are Micro SDHC cards from China so much cheaper? Are western sellers gouging, or are the cards from China seconds in some way?

    Thanks

First off, I'd recommend here: http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDHC

Secondly, never buy flash cards in store here, especially phone shops. The price can often be double what it should be.

You probably dont need SDHC unless you're new phone is something like the SE Vivaz that shoots 1080p Video. For music class doesnt really matter. With taking stills write times will help if you're taking lots of photos but its not really an issue with phones, more digital cameras trying to shoot rapid bursts/continually.

Reliability is an issue with knock off cards, and you cant trust the ratings. Sandisk on the outside does not make it sandisk, so buy from a reputable dealer. I dont mind paying a few quid more for a card that most likely wont be dead when I got to recover all my holiday photos from.

One last thing, check you're phones max capacity, if its say 16GB dont put a 32GB in or it may well corrupt itself.

Also worth mentioning you have the class system in reverse, class 6 is better than class 2. Class 6 means that the card can operate at a minimum of 6Mb/s and class 2 means 2Mb/s. However for some cards, especially the ones that ship with phones, can be a much higher class due to a high demand for low class devices and higher class versions being re-badged to meet that demand.
