Getting my iPhone 4 replaced by AppleCare

I've put up with the below par performance of my iP4 (ww29 bought on launch day) since I bought it, after yet another "call failed" dropped call today I called apple care to find out what my options are.

The lady I spoke to said that they would replace it no problem or issue a no quibble refund, which I am happy to hear.

She told me that Apple have rectified this reception issue and any customers who have returned their phones for the same reason as me have been very Happy with their replacement phones.

Is this the case? Have they made any internal modifications to the phone design? Or is this bull? She acknowledged that there was definitely a problem with signal quality, I was expecting to be told this was an isolated incident etc. She also assured me that if I'm not happy with the replacement that I am entitled to a full refund so I'm going to get it replaced.

I'm currently jailbroken, what will be the case with the new phone? Will the latest limerain jb work or will I have to wait for a 4.2 jailbreak? I have bought MiWi and will be lost without it as I use the iPad with it, but I can wait for another jailbreak if needs be.
    Thanks

Just be carefull with the applecare replace...It carries a charge of €29 that apple always forget to advise people of. I had 3 iphones replaced with apple, and they charged for all of them even after promising the charge would b waived. It's a hell of a fight to get it back too, took me a few weeks.

Isn't that the charge to send you a replacement first, rather than picking up the faulty one, then replacing it?

Yes, as far as I know that's the only straight out replacement option. The return first option is for repair, or replacement if repair is not an option as decided by apple. That option takes ten days, and collected and returned by ups. Also worth noting is that a replacement phone WILL NOT be new, it will be a refurbished phone. There are mixed feelings about the quality of these refurbs. When apple replaced my 3GS the replacement had both dead pixles and dust under the screen. If you do have any trouble with the call centre just ask to talk to a customer relations advisor, most if them are based in cork and are really helpful.

She gave me an option of paying €35 to have a new phone shipped ahead of them receiving my one. I opted for the free way, I understand that the replacements can be refurb's the few times over the years I have used apple care the replacement devices have always been perfect.

My main concern is whether or not the poor signal strength issue has been resolved, and I don't mean the signal strength indicator but the hardware issue itself, I have a case on the phone and it has made no difference it's just not as good as my old 3GS, my brother, sister and brother in law all have iPhone 4s and we are all unhappy with them, non stop dropped calls between ourselves. I've seen more call failed errors in the last 3 months than I have in the last 3 years.
