If it's an occasional foxer I'd opt for the light stainless;) However if you intend blasting 10 shots at a time then heavy barrel.

    What model Remington .223?

I see McBride in Athlone is selling VSSF II .223 for €1200, worth the extra few bob if you want stainless and super accurate

Typical FD, wants to sell you what he has or got off another dealer do not deviate from what you want or had on your mind, do not listen to excuses, there are plenty of dealers out there so stick with what you want get your heavy barrel shop and phone around.

Agree 100%... stick with what you want to get not what the dealer 's got

unless he does you a super deal and is willing t give it to you at clearence sale price ;)

Without doubt the VSSF II is the nicest Remington chambered in .223.
It's also a 26 inch barrel where as most of teh others are 24", a consideration if you want to get the best out of a 55grainer

The VSSF has a much better made stock also than any of the SPS variants

Who threaded the barrel - the factory?

I love Remington. Any problem at all, they have taken care of immediately.

If the barrel was threaded by the factory, then it may be the better of the two choices, especially, if you plan to do a bit of lamping.

However, if it is not a factory job, I would go with the bull barrel. Personally, I like the heavier barrel in general.

What's your game? Deer? Bunnies? Targets? Lamping?

Remington always offered threading from their custom shop, now it is available on some Remington off the shelf models.

Fair enough Tac;) Things have changed since I last looked

Has US laws on moderators changed? I thought they were even stricter than here?

True :o I always say I'll buy a lighter gun next time. Truth is it'll either be the same weight or heavier, ho-hum.

How're they doing on shoulder replacement op's now I wonder? :D
