Economists tell us inflation is good and that deflation is bad. What they are saying is that stuff getting less affordable is good. What they are saying is that stuff getting more affordable is bad. I will never buy stuff on sale again... paying more money for the same goods is good for the economy you know!

Take for example deflation in terms of the housing market. As a house is more likely to be cheaper in 6 months time than today, you will hold off buying until 6 months from now. Similarly with all sorts of goods - if you know the price will be lower in a few months, you'll decide not to buy now.

Hower, with inflation, you'll buy today cos you won't want to pay the extra in 6 months time.

Buying and selling is at the heart of an economy, so this is why economists say deflation is bad, as nobody will buy anything.

We have seen deflation for many years in consumer electronics and air travel... That must mean people don't fly and that people don't buy consumer electronics... OH WAIT!

If you've loads of debt, inflation is fantastic.
