BB's being split

Someone in the last week or two mentioned something
about and airsoft gun splitting BB's cant rememember what thread it was. But it was an GBB maybe a WE scar if I can remember where the user needed to shim the base of the lip for the mag.

What would cause BB splits on an AEG ? considering the botttom of the hop up chamber would feed into the magazine, there is no mag lip that comes close to the nozzle/feed ramp.

Testing a recent purchase this morning, with a Hi Cap magazine that is an extremely tight fit. Was getting some mixed results, Got some dry fireing every few rounds and I distinctly saw BB's being split.

Not sure if it maybe a hop up rubber not sitting correctly of the hop up unit not working correctly, or maybe the hi-cap mag may not be feeding the BB's smoothly.

I think it's something to do with the feed from the mag to the hop chamber, if too many enter the chamber incorrectly then the air nozzle will ram forward and crush them and fire them out. Was it just the one mag you tested with?:)

The dry firing makes sounds like a feed problem and when the bbs are released they're bunching up in the chamber and being crushed, that's my hypothesis:p

I think this is why you are recommended to use a plastic air nozzle as metal ones can damage a bb. I think you are close to it blay, I've never seen it myself.

Is it a very high rof set-up?

In what way is the mag tight? Does it fully seat in to the magwell?

Fireing on semi only with an 8.4v nimh.

I've only two hi-cap mags for the gun (SA58 OSW)
one is the stock hi-cap and I've an additional 1000rnd hi-cap. The stock one fits fine getting some split bb's but not as many as the larger hi-cap, the 1000 rounder while locks! does not seem to lock with a click even though its pretty solid in the magwell but does need that extra shove. Need to re-check the stock magazine tomorrow when I've more light.

Think Blay may have described one of possibly more than one issue with regards to getting a few bbs bunched up together and getting crushed to split.

So far on semi, it appears to be fire a few fine and then
dry fire, then spits out 2-3 bb's or splits some.
