I have a stove with a back boiler and was thinking about getting coal this year, but there are a few types out there so can anyone tell me, which is the best to use.

You should ONLY use smokless coal in a stove

    Ecobrite is the best.

Ordinary house coal is not good for stoves, it clogges up your chimney no end , why are you opposed to smokeless??

Thanks for the info. I have been told that smokeless coal doesn't give off as much heat as ordinary stuff and I live in the country, so I can use the ordinary type. I do get the chimney cleaned annually if this makes a difference. I've a large sitting room and need a good fire to heat it and the rads so thought coal would be the best buy this year to mix with turf...have been using timber and turf up to this, but timber running out.

EcoBrite is THE best coal for stoves , im in athlone and its readily available in most towns , the same people make CosyGlo for open fires.

BTW whoever told you that smokeless coal dosent give off the same heat is barking mad.....have a good hot fire with ecobrite or any smokeless fuel....you'll be stripping down to your undies in no time lol

I would recommend ecoglow, they deliver by the tonne to anywhere in Ireland. Top quality smokeless coal, with a great heat output. go to the coaldirectireland website

I use broad na mona stove Coal, a 35kg bag lasts weeks if used with logs...some serious heat off it...one shovel full with vents slightly open gives great heat and it burns for hours ...was told by installer and shop where I got stove never to use regular coal...but saying that a neighbour uses regular polish coal without much issues ,his flue does get dirtier and it seems to burn the grate out faster but with the regular coal his stove nearly would be red with the heat, to hot for me..

Coal burns much hotter too. Not all stoves are designed for that level of heat. Make sure you check yours can before causing any damage.
