It seems Darlton are subtly changing what they claimed before.

You got to wonder whether the line they took during the making of the show was to ensure the inevitable ****storm that would have been kicked up about not telling the full story was avoided.

The guy has to eat. I don't know what Cuse's future work prospects are like but I get the feeling they aren't as good as Lindelof's, who already has his name attached to the next Star Trek and Ridley Scott's Alien prequel. I can't see him wanting to go back to Lost.

I don't think Cuse's comments change anything anyway. They had no plans. They still have no plans. Disney is a different story. They've made quite clear they have every intention to milk every penny they can out of Lost. They called it "our Star Trek", remember. A spin-off is probably gonna happen with or without Cuse and Lindelof.

Mmm...I've no real problem with a spin-off if it was penned by Cuse and Lindelof, maybe even Edward Kitsis/Adam Horowitz, who seem to be second in the production hierarchy. Although I understand they're busy with their own project at the moment.

As for storylines, a "Further adventures of Hurley & Ben" seems the most likely in my opinion, not sure if resolving the fates of the Ajira 6 would be able to engage new fans, at least not as a sole premise.

But yeah I too thought Cuse was taking a rather different angle to what was said a couple of months ago.

Well at least this time we'll know where everyone ends up (dead!) but telling how they got there could be quite interesting. As long as they avoid the problems of cheesey US follow ups - The Further Adventures of Ben and Hurley with sidekick Walt and look who the guest star they're visiting this week is - its Kate!. If they avoided this and had a definite run (eg a season or three seasons) and avoided going on with a load of padding it could be really good. they could tell the full story of Walt coming to the island, of his getting Ghost Michael released and able to move on, of how Richard explained where he came from or what he did when he flew off the island, of what happened Kate and Sawyer.

It could be very good and it could be very bad. i definitely think they shouldn't do it with completely new writers. I would have been against this a few months back but now feel there's room for it as long as it doesn't end up spoiling everything that has gone before

I agree. I wouldn't mind them gradually revealing the fate of the "Ajira 6" and maybe Desmond but don't think it should become a regular thing. It would need a good story arc to drive the show. However, the hopeful part of me can't help but think such a spin-off was at the back of their minds when they made "The New Man in Charge".

Has anyone managed to find a new programme to replace Lost yet? Think 'The Event' was meant to be along those lines but missed it, will watch it on 4od soon!

Started to watch it a few days ago, I find it quite good, better than Flashfoward. I don't believe there'll be another show as good as Lost for a long time but it looks promising enough. It's sort of a blend of Lost/V/Flashfoward, with a hint of 24, in my opinion.
