Just a heads up for anyone interested, according to Digiguide, this is starting Fri 22 Oct on RTE1 at 10pm or 'see it first' on Channel 4 at 9pm.

    What is it Poochie?

Oh sorry, my post makes it sound more mysterious than it is ...
It's a new series, started on NBC this year in the States (website for info).
It's like a cross between FlashForward and Lost, although the jury's still out as to whether it's as good as the latter or worse than the former.
There's a thread somewhere on here although it's at the US pace, so obviously there'll be spoilers. They are up to Ep 4 there.

Make that RTE TWO and there is a double bill on both channels.

It is of course RTE2, - slip of the keyboard! Just surprised at the time they are showing it, very early by RTE's standards!

Desperate Housewives is Rte 2's most watched drama so they brought it back last week so they must be expecting the event to be big here.

I think Jason Ritter is best at comedy roles

I'm not keen on him in this

It has a wiki here - doesn't spoil it just fills it out a little.

Here's what metacritic says about it:

I meant the time slot, they often specialise in late night specials when it comes to US dramas!
But I agree they must think it will appeal to a wide audience if they are showing it at this time.
I'm quite enjoying it so far, but always have FlashForward at the back of my mind ...

I love The Event. This and Raising Hope are my favourite shows of the new US TV Season

Watching this from the states - not saying any spoilers - but its good (so far) and I get a small feeling of "X-Files" about it.

I know what you mean about the time slot. There are plenty of earlier slots available for their late night programs e.g. Medium. Or even if they show them later in the year.
Do they buy the rights and show them late night so tv3 can't?

I think it's more that they get them in packages with other shows, rather than trying to prevent TV3 from getting them, but maybe I'm being naive. :o
They tend to argue that they would not do well at primetime but 24 was a popular show and it got relegated to the graveyard shift as well.

My argument would be if they have to show them during the night, at least have a page on their website with a list of the premier dates so that we don't miss them and keep the Sky EPG up to date because I used to Sky+ Smallville but found they used to change the time around and not tell anyone, so you'd miss half of it!

I sent them an email suggesting this and they thanked me for the suggestion but that was last year.

Not even a 5 second ad telling us.

For a well hyped show, they put it on a bad day-Friday. This should be on any day between Sunday-Wednesday , they are killing it already by putting it on a Friday.

It's a funny coincidence that the US President is played by a black actor (Yes we can). Are the producers trying to tell us something?

Loving this show so far. Glad to see RTE picked it up only a few weeks behind the states...and woot! it got a full season pick-up in the states too.

Don't know whats been shown over here yet , so I wont say 2 much.
After the firs 2 episodes I would agree with the cross between Lost & Flashforward. Maybe with a little hint of V;)

After 6 years of Lost that is not a problem for me.
Although there are done more in context to whats happening at the time.

Don't know about this, it started off well but now it is just Lost by Numbers.
