iphone cant update????

hi every time i try to update my iphone it start fine and can download for anything between 1 min and 15 min then it stops and a message comes up sayin "network connection timed out"
my internet appears to be working fine and downloads anything else fine,ive been into help section and changed any setting it told me to but still no joy,any help appreciated.

now telling me it cant read my iphone and need to restore to factory default :mad:

do you mean unistall of my computer and then re-install or the iphone???
phone is doing my head in really is considering selling allready :mad:

Have you your phone backed up? Contacts in Outlook or in gmail?
Updates itunes to the latest version - 10.01

If your phone does not require a network unlock then you can force 4.1 software on it.

Download the software from apple here

When you dock your phone and it tells you that you need to restore it - hold shift key down and press restore and point it towards the above file you have downloaded
This will put 4.1 onto your phone, afterwards you have an option to either restore your data onto your phone or setup the phone as a new phone.

I always setup as new phone and then resync everything and set it up the way i want it as i find a new install better.
