    Hi,
My 7 year old shower, mira elite 2 tripped the fuse repeatedly last week, this occurred if the heating element was on or not.

I opened up the mira unit to discover the plastic unit cover crumbled as I took it off, looking at the unit housing, its full of cracks. Old plastic+ heat I guess.
To test the system I unplugged the heating element but it still tripped out, so its not the heater.
I unplugged the motor/pump and again it still tripped the fuse.

Now 1 week later having left the shower unit's cover open and unused its working fine again.

All this leads me to suspect the faulty cracked outer casing of the shower unit had allowed water to enter the unit, after 1 week of non use it dried up again.

I need a plastic mira elite 2 case, were can I get one 2nd hand or from the mira dealer?
Is there one around Galway or is it a trip to Dublin?

Modern Plant on the Naas road dublin will look after you. but the shower is 7 years old and probably never serviced so its time for a new one. you probably dont drive a car that is 7 years old so why shower in one.

Thank you for that, Ill give them a buzz on Monday and see do they have the case and will they post it.

To give you an idea what you are dealing with my car is 16 years old, I expect another 3 years from the 7 year old shower.

    Over and out

I agree with roy its probably due a change, hopefully if you can get a part and fit it yourself it wont cost you much but on the other hand some mira parts are pricey and if you've to pay someone else to fit it then it all adds up whereas new shower has 3 years warranty etc. basically you could fix it and something else go wrong in a week, month, whatever.

    all the best

go into walshs on the tuam rd and price a new one, if you can do what you have done, you could fit a new one, will probally work out cheaper

Your bang on modern plant will help.... Pereka also do servicing on these showers so you can actually ask them to give you the number of one of the service guys and then you can barter with him when he next removes one.,,,

I hear your pain my son. Your best bet is to troll the show rooms and next time you see a dummy mira elite 2 make them an offer. You can bet its cheaper than modern plant will charge...

ps... I honestly believe a new one will be the mostreliable option....
