    Hi Guys,

Long time reader of this business forum, first time poster.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried out www.nubie.com and what their experience of it was?

I was using it for a week's free trial and have been impressed by the software. I'm just questioning whether it's worth paying €20 a month for the service. I can't see anything else like it available.

Anyone have any positive reviews on it? Are there better/cheaper alternatives available?

    Thanks for any advice.

I recently signed up for a full subscription and I honestly think it's worth the few quid to be honest. In the grand scheme of things you'd probably be paying more overall elsewhere for the additional tools like the CRM system, financial planner etc. I find it useful having all the information in one location anyway. Makes the whole experience easier to handle in my opinion.

I'm not sure if you've done this either, but getting them to tailor a roadmap specific to your company's idea is also really beneficial.

    Hope this helps.

Well I've been using it for the last 3 weeks and I think it's terrific! I find it keeps me on the straight and narrow in terms of completing tasks I otherwise would've delayed and forgotten about it. The promise of third party involvement assisting in some of the particular tasks will hopefully be a time-saver and allow me get on with the things I know more about (sales etc..).

    I'd go for it!:D

If it is a business planning tool you are looking for check out Sage's 'Planning for Business' software. It is completely free, no charge at any point and can be downloaded off the website.

    Thanks for the replies.

I think you made my mind up for me!I just wanted to make sure I was making the right decision for something I'll later be dependent on.

Herbalist, I've used the Sage software and I find it very basic in comparison. Thanks anyway.

dapto1 who are the third parties involved?

Sorry for the late reply Steve. I've only seen your post now.

If you signed up you may be aware already, but Arachas Insurance,Snap Printing and Big Red Book Accounting Software are involved in the site. Company formation legal work can be outsourced to third party law firms as well.

The site essentially works more as one stop shop for entrepreneurs rather than a business planning software like Sage in that respect.

I signed up after i saw this mentioned on here, and i must say its actually very good. Im just doing something part time with a view to making it more permanent, and was a bit wary because i didn't know much about the licenses i had to acquire; regulations which i was meant to be compliant with..

I didnt even know this existed until it appeared here. Must say it was massively handy having everything in the one place. Would recommend to a friend

Just a brief update in case anyone might be interested:

I've had full use of the site for over a month now and I think it was definitely worth the subscription fee. It saves me all the mucking around I used to do between different systems, and for a relative technophobe like myself, I find it very easy to use.

Would recommend others on the forum check it out. I think they're still doing free week trials but I may be wrong. Good to have some positive feedback about an Irish venture for once!

I had a browse of this, just one question is it all software based?

What I mean is - is this a mentoring process or a software system which lists the steps required to go from A 2 B etc?

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Currently the system is a comprehensive software step by step guide to get your company up and running.

There are, however, plans for a mentoring system to be put in place in the coming months which will incorporate elements of e-learning. An educational database is also set to be established.

I was speaking to them today and there are (supposedly) 1,000 registered start-ups using it so surely that many can't be wrong?

I have recently started my own business, so have been following lots of threads etc to get as much help as I can. I had a look on the newbie site and there is nothing there that can't be got for free on other sites. I agree it's handy to have it all on one site but the things I found were 1. you have to pay and for me every penny is being watched, 2. its a new site so therefore will have problems as compared to the other free ones who are well established etc. and 3. a lot of what they offer is not great. The invoicing system for example is absolutely rubbish so I didn't bother checking out the other stuff. It didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know.

What are the other sites you mention?I genuinely haven't seen anything else like it on my travels. I think it's main advantage is that it's tailored to an Irish market which, taking into account the other business planning/management sites I've visited, definitely makes it unique in my book.

Also the website is still in beta, so it's inevitable that there will be a few mistakes but I've found that they're minimal.

Just google new business help and there are lots of places to choose from. But apart from that, a friend of mine works in a bank and they are looking at doing a very similar site for FREE!!!

Really?!That sounds interesting. Who is the bank involved?

I'm on Nubie as well and find it extremely helpful but if there was a free alternative I'd definitely consider it.

Until the time being, however, I'm happy with what Nubie are offering.
