The Glen is offering full membership at €2600 per year - What do people think?

Im a member of the Heath and pay €1500 p/a. Fine track but I don't play enough 3 young kids and all. But I think if your single and have the spare time and money, it must be the best deal for 2011.

I think i prefere the Heath! do you get playing rites on both for that? if so then its an amazingly good offer

A far cry from the "Tiger" years but a serious offer for a top course... If it gives playing rights on the Heath as well it would be tempting.....;)
I was told about this by a member of Powerscourt. They said it was in response to their lease membership offer at the same price... though you get two top courses for that!

Love playing Powerscourt. 2 Great courses! but wouldn't join, Way to elitist. I mean that in the club house there not the sort of people that i normally acquaint with. Doesn't say much about me. I find the same in Druids Glen, but also.. the Club house and its facilities are very aged.

Highly opinionated post there but that just what i think. I would probably go for the Glen over powerscourt because it has the heath.

Agree completely on the elitist comment about both.... Thinking seriously of joining the Heath next year - Hoping to try it out next friday :D

The Glen members play a comp once a month on the Heath. I think the new deal is to play both courses but have separate comps from the Heath members.

The Heath will be regisitered with GUI next year (so I heard), which means teams etc..

It'll be very interesting to see the numbers, there has to be a good number interested.

I heard it's tough..... I am hoping that having the practice facilities and the fact it is tough will bring my game on. Only playing three years, this year with a bit more focus and plan, and with little or no practice/lessons I am now consistently playing to 15-17 ish! (36 points off 17 in society outing in Blainroe yesterday - Won class 2 :D)
Also the fact it is all of 4 minutes from home will help!

i'll be joining also, have played it about 6 times, love it,especially the back nine, very few weak holes,(the 18th sticks out as the main 1)if the wind blows hard it is almost impossible but in normal weather i think it's fine,i live about 2 mins away and i plan to get value for money by playing a lot of golf next year

From what I have been told it really lacks a club atmosphere. But if all you want is to play a quality course I'd say it would a good idea.

Yeah no club atmosphere, few things here, the clubhouse is bascially a spike bar, pro shop and changing rooms. So it doesn't lend itself to a few beers and watching a game on the box etc..

The club hopefully having it's own committe next year should get a bit of club atmosphere going, teams, evening comps etc..

At the moment it's run by Druids, stableford singles, wed 4ball, open singles on a monday. Needs 4ball, team etc comps on weekends, have prize giving once a month etc..

But it's only it's secong year, so I'm hoping things pick up next year..
