Fixed Charge Offence - Advice

    Hope someone can help!

I went today to pay a fixed charge offence, and when I worked out the days I realised yesterday was day 56. Had completely forgotten about it. I've been told that the court summons are automatically generated so there is no point in trying to pay it now.
What I'm wondering is, can anyone tell me how long it takes before a summons comes through? And how much is the fine when you get to court? Also, the gardas name isn't on the letter I have, does that make any difference?!

    Freaked out a bit!!

Well, A summons would be created by the Fixed charge penalty office, This is usually sent electronically to the courts who issue a summons. This is usually sent out to you by registered post. Allowing for workloads in the various offices i would imagine it will be a week or two before you see a summons.

The Garda's name is not printed on the ticket. It will however be printed on the summons, which will outline everything you need to know. The best option if you want to query anything on the summons, is to try to make contact directly with the member involved. Ring the station and ask to speak with him or leave a message for him.

Re the fine, this usually depends on the offence and the judge, but rarely exceed in my experience €150 for the general Road Traffic offences.
