    Hi All

I found a car for sale recently. The vendor is saying he can't get the uk logbook and is unable to contact the previous owner.

Is it still possible to register it in Ireland?

    Thanks

No leave it. You need the V5 document to register it.

Run a mile, it stinks. Have you checked the history online?

Could very possibly be stolen, how anyone can come in to "posession" of a car in the first place with no log book is beyond me that they could be that naive. Steer clear of this as the VRT process is difficult enough without having to do this.

It sounds *very* dodgy to me, but, it *can* be registered here without the V5. The new owner would need to contact the DVLA and obtain a certificate of permanent export:

They will contact the previous UK owner to ensure the car was sold, etc, afaik.
