MODS there is loads of potential places i could post this but i taught this'd be the best place

after yet another experience today standing in a ƒucking huge dog shít
where would someone complain about the amount of dog shít on the footpaths

there was those red bins put up about 8 years ago by the local council especially for dog shít and they are rarely used if ever and when they are used it's by people putting residential rubbish in them
Irish people should be ashamed of themselves for not picking it up it'll only take a few seconds and it'll make wherever you live a whole lot cleaner and nicer to walk.
i'm ashamed to say 'for now' i'm living in Cobh Co. Cork which was last year (i think) voted the dirtiest town in ireland this town survives on tourism and with a couple of million visitors a year coming off cruise liners a lot will never come back simply because of lazy dog owners

almost everywhere else in the world people pick up the shít
last year i was in Germany for 2 weeks not a single turd to be seen anywhere the place was spotless and i done a lot of walking.
America is another place a big fat durty shíte is never seen anymore because these people aren't ''too proud'' to pick up the shít

it's not that hard just bring a little plastic bag and pick the ƒucking thing up

so back to my actual question

Where would someone complain about the amount of dog shít on the footpaths

It's a result of giving a dog a calcium rich diet, i.e. bones. Most people that had dogs then would ask a butcher for bones for their dogs.

The main place I see it on the footpaths is around town, on my way up to the Mater the other day I saw loads. Chances are the dogs may be out by themselves, but also, there aren't any red bins in these areas (not that it's an excuse, walked two miles with my friend's dog swinging a nice full bag of sh1t in my free hand, until I found an appropriate bin). Also in around housing estates, where I know it's a case of the dogs being out alone.

People should be responsible for their own dog's poop.
Go almost anywhere on the continent and the owner will almost definitely have a poop bag on their person while out walking the dog.
It's laughable the amount of dogshit thats on our footpaths at times:rolleyes:

When I was a kid, what we use to do was, eat some Fizzle Sticks in front of everyone on the green, someone would ask for one of course, they got a white one ;)

Around Temple Street I was making room on the footpath for this couple and their pram when I looked down, did a bit of a hop skip and jump, they sniggered and traipsed right through the sh1te, so who was laughing then, eejits!

There should absolutely be more bins - huge shortage in general of litter/dog poop bins.

In my local park they actually took away one of the badly needed bins as they said they don't have the resources to empty it (and this was in the booming times) and yet, when I did see the council workers on the odd occasion emptying the overflowing bins it took 3 of them. When I asked one of the council workers if they could reinstate the bins he said it was being used by too many dog owners to drop the dog poop in and this was way too disgusting for them to have to empty.....

the government should start sending welfare claimants out to work removing dog $hit from the footpaths, and whilst their at it, the fag ends, chewing gum, broken glass.......

Nappy bags are even cheaper and do the same job! I used to walk my housemate's dog a lot, and always had a pocketful of nappy bags. Until the damn doggy got over excited and had diahorrea poos all over the footpaths in Dalkey. Not only is it the last place in Dublin you want to be seen with a splatter poo, there is literally no way to pick it up. All you can do is stand their with a very red face until the poor dog is done, then run as fast as you and the dog can.

Ah, as a former horse owner I have to apologise on behalf of all horse riders everywhere. It's not really possible to pick up after your horse.

But it might be because I love horses, but I think horse **** doesn't smell bad. And it's clean too. Just let it dry out and then kick it away. Dog sh1t smells rank.

One thing about growing up in Belfast in the 70s and 80s is you had to be careful where you walked, especially on a footpath covered in autumn leaves. There could be dog poop hiding anywhere under them.

Compare that to London today. Clean streets and not a stool anywhere. Pity there are so many unnecessary cars about.

I agree that there is a serious amount of dog shít everywhere in Dublin recently. It's like I'm constantly walking watching the footpath instead of looking ahead of me.

I was taking my dog out for a walk earlier to the local GAA pitch, and noticed there was a sign up but with the pic of the dog taking a dump and warning of a fine, which is fair enough, but if they are going to stick up that sign then at least provide a bin so people don't have to walk around with a bag of shit on them.

I agree, I actually LIKE the smell of horsesh1t ALSO cow sh1t. Reminds me of holidays in the country farm many years ago. Now it's slurry and silage which I do NOT care for:)

Horsecrap doesn't smell as bad because they eat haaaayyyy. Dogs eat their own crap though so it stinks.

I fùckin' hate dog shìt, it's like the council blend it with concrete to make footpaths. When it's dark I'm forced to walk on the side of the road because I know the path to my house is 99.9% poo.

    FACT!

    It's everywhere.............................good grief, it's even on Boards!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,766 ✭✭✭squeakyduck

I hate this, it's the exact same where I live. Walking down to the bus stop every morning there is scutter and dog shiite smeared all over the paths. I once saw I guy bring his dog into a front garden and let his dog crap in there only to have a very elderly man with a walking stick tell him in no finer words "to piss off".

There should be wardens around to fine these people. They are just lazy.

I seen a kid skid the back wheel of his bike into some dog poo directed at a group of pre-teen girls the other day. Ironically, only dogs could hear the girls' reactions!

Cheered me up anyway, keep it up dogs! :D

Sy Man, I really had to go and I had no bags with me.

I always try my best to go in front of people's businesses or house but sometimes if I am drunk I will just let rip on the footpath

So if you slipped in my poo then I apologize

Now your talking the good talk. Semi steaming cow patties... could rub them frisby sh1tes between my toes all day long. Dog turds... just plain nasty - don't try at home kids! :(

People act like "Every dog sh*ts except my own", and will pretend that the dog didn't just pause to leave a nice steamer on the path.

I hate having to go Tesco because it means literally swerving my sons buggy like a F1 or drag racing driver! I have a buggy with air filled wheels! Its near impossible to get them cleaned after it. Fecking annoying  I just want to go, get my shopping and go home, you dont see me leaving my sons nappies on the street!

People need to be responsible for their animals!

if you didnt have a toilet to go to then I think you would settle with taking a dump on a patch of grass, sure its no different that people taking a piss in a laneway after a night on the booze, when you dont give someone a toilet, they'll go anywhere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,833 ✭✭✭phill106

Driving through shannon yesterday and I saw a dog make an admirable attempt to poop INTO a bin. I kid you not.
The dog had its two hind legs up in the air, propped against the bin while pooping.
Ok it wasnt the red poop bins, but come on people, he is a dog, he cannot read and he is colour blind!
