That's a really good price. Just make sure when you get it that it actually is an i5. I'm always a bit sceptical when It comes to PC World.

I would not buy a box of matches from that shower of tossers!
Most of the time your "bargain" is a returned unit, which is faulty, but which they just have to sell on in the hopes of getting away with it. Fully check the box for any sign that it was opened, and if so reject it. That's if you insist on buying there.

And as for the spellchecker. There is not a spellchecker that has been invented that would sort out the OP's post. I had to read it carefully several time to try figure it out !!

I remember seeing an G4 667 Mhz iMac in PC world on sale for a little less than a better specced iBook and about €200 less than a new a G 5 was on sale from Apple

    Moral here; be very careful!

picked up an airport extreme for €120 instead of the €180 usual price in PC World so not all bad. other stuff can be well overpriced though.

According to the Apple Store the 27 Inch is only available with quad core i5, and they're retailing it at €2029.00. This IS the new range AFAIK.

    Be VERY careful.

    Check and confirm the specs.

Thanks OP, picked one up today after a mishap with my old imac, there were quite a few left. It's definitely the i5.

Well Apple still have this model (i5) on their refurb store for €1529 - so I wouldn't consider that price much of a bargain.

As regards buying from PC World - it wouldn't be my first choice - it really annoys me to see shops here selling/displaying out of date Apple kit - HMV Grafton St. still have a 20" iMac on display - almost a year after it was replaced with the 21.5" model. Thankfully CompuB have improved the retail situation in Dublin with their Grafton St. store, though a proper Apple store would be nice.

If they have it in stock they have to sell it !!! just because the range may have been refreshed or updated does not mean the reseller should throw it out !!!!! it's not like it will go bad and damage someone's health !!

I'm not saying they shouldn't sell it - but in HMV's case, there's no indication that this isn't current stock - the price list shows current models and the machine on display was updated a year ago - but there's no mention of that fact.

Agree with comments about PCW, almost all of the Logitech kit on display is out of date and absolutely everything that's new is sold at list price so any discounts are only for display models or old stuff.

I was in PCW in Carrickmines a few weeks ago, when I asked one of the assistants a question about the Mac he sent over his Apple 'expert' who hadn't a clue so I went home, did more research and then went to Harvey Normans and bought.

Would have liked to support a local retailer in the form of Compub but they wanted Eur 15 for delivery and being at the bottom of Grafton St. it's not very convenient having to lug a large carton (21" Mac) to the car park in Drury St. or wherever so they are really up against it when compared to the retailers in out of town centres where you can park within 50m of the store.

I was in PC World in Liffey Valley earlier for a nosey and there was a stack of about 7 of these on display. All brand new, in pristine boxes. If my credit card had a bit more, erm, headroom I might have been tempted.

I know F-all about Macs but what I do know about PCW is, you do your research before you go in and if the price is right, you buy. You don't go in there looking for advice.
