Former Prison Break star Wentworth Miller is in talks to replace cancer-stricken Andy Whitfield in Spartacus: Blood And Sand.

Whitfield was forced to quit the hit show in September after learning his non-Hodgkin's lymphoma had returned - just months after doctors gave him the all-clear in June.
TV executives originally considered calling off the show due to Whitfield's health setback.
But according to Entertainment Weekly, they are now planning to recast the lead role of gladiator slave Spartacus - and they're hoping Miller will join the the cast.

Might work. Who ever they get, I look forwards to the news series.
    Series one was fantastic.

I'm glad they decided to recast and proceed with the second series. However, Miller doesn't seem like a good choice. They should have chosen a relative unknown as Witfield was when he was cast.

Great show, hope it works, but disappointed with the choice.

I can't really see it working. Whitfield had incredible presence

To re-iterate what I said in the main Spartacus thread..
Wentworth Miller?!? No f*cking way.. he'd squint through every battle, glimpse of a tit and "See You Next Tuesday" uttered!

    Ridiculous idea!

Loved Whitfield in the first series - damn shame about his health but its more important and he made the right choice to quit.
I agree with others, while Miller might be a good actor for other types of shows, I can't see him fitting in on this possible second series.

Whitfield was a lot grittier, an unknown that took on a part and made it his own - his shoes will be damn hard to fill.
I honestly can't see Miller doing just that. Would love to be proved wrong but I feel/fear they will tone the show down a bit due to his very presence and willingness to do some things and not others.
Whitfield helped push the boundaries with the show as regard what was brought to our screens.
I can't see Miller doing the same. Again, I'd love to be proved wrong and if so - the winner will be all us viewers!

As far as I'm concerned it's a joke that they are proceeding with a recast. Just so some glorified pretty boy can come in and tarnish what was achieved with the first series. Money talks at the end of the day. The show will never reach the heights of the first series without Andy's involvement so I don't see the point.
