It's a bit out of date now, but Jim Murray's Classic Irish Whiskey is very good. And The Whiskeys of Ireland by Peter Mulryan is excellen.

    Others I'd recommend are...

World Whisky Atlas by Dave Broom
100 Whiskies to Try Before You Die, by Ian Buxton
Malt Whisky Yearbook (more technical info)
Malt Whisky Companion by Michael Jackson
1,000 Years of Whiskey by Malachy Magee (a bit outdated now...)

Some of the more technical ones would be the likes of Par Caldenby's Enjoying Malt Whiskey, Ian Buxton's reprint of The Truths About Whiskey... and lots and lots more.

Also, one I got just the other day is Whisky: A Global History. Haven't read much of it yet, though.

I think that's enough to keep me going for awhile :pac:

For a very easy to ready one on Irish, I'd start with Peter Mulryan's one.

    I'd second that ...

and a handy reference book for trying new whiskies

101 Whiskies to Try Before You Die, by Ian Buxton

Again easy to read and just enough information on the bottles not to over load you with anorak stuff

Raw Spirit by Iain Banks. A fantastic book by any measure.
