That article was quite hilarious - at least he went out with the verbal equivalent of an "ah yes, those were the days" style montage.

I wrote that Ann Widdecombe had "a face like a haunted cave in Poland", and that Cilla Black was "starting to resemble the result of an unholy union between Ronald McDonald and a blow-dried guinea pig".

Just off the guardian website and came here to post it, dark dark days for journalism, i have the 3 books compiled from these articles, many a odd look ive received sitting in the canteen in the college reading them followed by uncontrollable bursts of laughter

Good, his articles were getting more and more half assed, and he'd become the very thing he'd always mocked. He obviously realised that too and wants to focus on his new career of appearing on panel shows.
