I was living in new york over the summer and these were everywhere. They seem ridiculously over priced and seems like you are paying for the name and how stylish they look. However I did try out a friends Beat solos and they sounded amazing. Now I want a pair bad but am I stupid paying $200 for a set of these? Note I don't want them for studio use.

I've had them for 6 months, the solos are amazing and would highly recommend them. The Studios are definitely not worth the money

You might be stupid buying them. I think the head phones are sold under a different label by the manufacturer. At a different price. Just check out the original manufacturer - won't have Dre's signature or funky graphics but what the hey.

Sennheiser HD25II BE are far better.

When I read the title I thought Dre took to beating the crap outta a set of headphones.

The solos are available on ebay for €108 from China. I never buy anything off ebay, does this look legit or could they be knock off's?

They are knock-offs. Don't buy off the chinese market they are all fakes. If you wanna pay for good quality headphones head over to the beats website or buy in your nearest electronics store

I have tried these headphones out a few times and I just can't get past the low buzz that the active noise canceling system produces...

I've used neither headphones but given the choice I'd be a lot happier paying the same amount of money for a product by a company like Sennheiser, knowing the years they sometimes put into developing their loudspeakers.

The feeling i get from these Dre headphones is that you're paying for the trendiness. I've seen them around a lot lately. To me it's not that different to buying shoes with some other rappers name on them!

That said, you can never tell. A good speaker is a good speaker. I just presume someone who is influenced to buy headphones based on the Dr Dre association may not be thinking about the bigger picture in terms of critical listening in a variety of genres.

They aren't too bad actually, but they are for kids...

Grado SP 80's http://www.gradolabs.com/ Now that's a mans headphone. None of your stupid graphics or hiphopster nonsense.

What's more you Grado will repair and replace their equipment, Dre prolly just kick yo white ass.
