I am planning on setting up my own webserver and i know there are always risks involved in this kind of stuff. Anyway was wondering what the major security risks would be in this situation?

Or if someone could link me to a thread similiar to this

Securing a server isn't trivial and given the vagueness of your question, I would strongly advise against it. It's much more economical for you if your hosting provider handles the security and a whole lot of other issues.

what they said. honestly, its like saying "I want to buy a computer. Which one should I get?"

it all depends on what you want it for and what you want it capable of doing.

Baconzombie's questions would have to be answered or at the least addressed before anyone could help you on this.
