    Hi lads

My head is wrecked ,any help or advice would be fantastic.

Yesterday my Intel Celeron 530 1.73GHz , Advent K4000 , posted a message saying there was a problem and need to shut down to fix ,Any way its shut down and restarted showing two options of restarting

    Launch Start Up Repair (recommended)
    or
    Start windows Normally

As it was recommended I pressed " Launch Start up Repair " which lead to the blue screen and the problem below..

Now my problem is I can 't gain access , now no matter which start up choice I use it ends up at a blue screen with OTHER USER on it (no other choice) and a small button at the bottom saying " ease of access " which does nothing when pressed, When I press the OTHER USER icon it goes to a blue screen looking for Username and Password which will not take the username or password I was using when working normally.

When working it would to give 2 choice of users when turned on ,one I set up as my account ,The 2nd has never been used or even opened.
    Any ideas

Did you try booting up in safe mode and see if you can get access? Keep pressing F8 after the laptop posts and choose either safe mode or safe mode with networking. What version of windows is it? Blue screen is usually a hardware fault or failure but could be a software driver or virus. Did you make any changes to your hard drive or partition table recently?

    Nothing happening when pressing F8,

Have tried F2 and F12 but not getting full reboot menu only the same two options (launch start up repair or start windows normally )are coming up ,and both lead to the same page with Other User ....

    No changes ..

But when laptop first closed down it posted alarm message ,you know detected something harmful /need to shut down to fix type of message ,So I think it was trying to deal with a virus ...

Try holding down F8 and see if that helps. It sounds like it's going into advanced startup mode automatically. You could try "start windows normally" and then "restart" when you get to the login. Then, try f8 again.

Have you Anti-Virus/malware/spyware software installed? Is it W7 or Vista? I am trying to make sense of what you are seeing at the login screen: Are you seeing some other user and not your username, what is this other username? Do you have a Ubuntu live cd you can run? At least that way you may be able to see your hard drive contents, see if your user account is still there, see if ubuntu reports any errors or fails to load and make a backup of files.
