Fairyhouse Meet Up, 28 November

At Nulty's request I'm posting this thread about a planned meet up at Fairyhouse on 28 Nov.

I'm also plagiarising Pyro's post from the gambling forum! :D

Just gauging interest on who'd be up for a day at the races at the end of November. There's some very good NH racing at Fairyhouse with 3 Grade 1's on the Sunday of the meeting. It's on the 28th of November and it should be a top day at the races.

Sunday's probably not the best day with work and college being on the next day but it's the worth taking a day off for this!

We could head back into the City for a night out on the town also, for anyone who's interested in that too.

So, who'd be up for it?

Don't everyone post at the same time or you'll take the server down! Shoud be a brilliant days racing despite not knowing whats going to turn up (by that I mean the horses not you freaks). Make sure you shower before leaving the house as I know some might need reminding.

    P.S.
Good job on distancing yourself form the intiative Convert. When it goes tits up you'll be smelling of roses

Quotes about the Hattons Grace after todays Mogiana:

    irishracing.com
    Charles Byrnes:
“He did it well, and you could see he was very relaxed during the race. He got a bit tired after the last but I'm happy to have that over with," said Byrnes afterwards.
"We'll look at the Hattons Grace now. Before I didn't like running him again too soon but he's got so relaxed at home that he's taking nothing out of himself.
"We took him away for a few gallops before today but he didn't exert himself too much.
"We will not be targeting him specifically at Cheltenham, and will go for all the Grade 1's like Leopardstown at Christmas and the Irish Champion back there.”
    Colm Murphy:
"I'm delighted to bits with her. She settled really well. It was a case of having to run as there is not much for her.
"She was staying on to the line and I've no doubt she'll get 2m4f. We'll see how she comes out of this but we'll look at the Hattons Grace.
"If there aren't too many big guns she could go for it. She hasn't that many options.
"I could have a look across the water but it's a worry travelling her so I probably won't."
"I wouldn't rule it out (David Nicholson Mares Hurdle) but there is also Fairyhouse and Punchestown."

    Drinmore Novices
    Willie Mullins on Mikael D'Haguenet
"You'd have to be delighted with that. He jumped from fence to fence. He did run second in a chase in France over two years ago before he came to us and while the Drinmore will be a big ask first time over fences for us, it is quite possible that he will run."

    Paul Townend said:
"I let him go to the front after jumping a couple of fences as the horse leading us wasn't really striding on and he was brilliant. He winged his fences and you'd have to be really pleased."

Drinmore - Jessies Dream (after ~Galway win)
Bobby McNally, assistant to the winning trainer, said: "He's the best horse in the yard, he wasn't even half fit today. He'll either go to Cheltenham next, or to the Grade 1novice chase at Fairyhouse."

    Hattons Grace - Hurricane Fly
Townend had earlier ridden Hurricane Fly in a three-horse workout over 1m4f on the Flat.
    Townend said:
"He worked well and once we are happy with him over the next week or ten days he will start his season in the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse on November 28."

Best of luck to him with whatever comes out. Does he plan on keeping or selling the foal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Cheers mate, he's planning on selling I'd say he has enough of them as it is but things could change. :)

5 days away...Mikael D'Hageneut, Hurrican Fly, Solwhit, Jessies Dream and more...

    I'm getting my ticket tomorrow.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Hurricane Fly would be the one for me. 7/2 would be nice, but might well need the run, whereas Solwhit has.
