    Just announced -

    http://www.tickets.london2012.com/

"Today we are announcing the ticket prices for the London 2012 Olympic Games and as a Front row subscriber we are thrilled to be able to tell you first.
We want our venues to be filled with enthusiastic sports fans so we have designed a pricing strategy to include a wide range of prices.
We are also delighted to reveal that there will now be up to 8.8 million tickets available for the Olympic Games, an increase of 800,000 from the previous figure, and 75 per cent of these tickets will go on sale from March 2011 through a public application process.
Here are some key features of our pricing strategy to help you plan your Games experience and be ready when applications open in March 2011:
A wide range of ticket prices including:
    - 90% of tickets at or below £100
    - Two-thirds of tickets at or below £50
    - 2.5 million tickets at or below £20

Full-price tickets starting at £20 for every Olympic sport.

A special ‘pay your age’ offer. Young people who are aged 16 and under (at 27 July 2012) will pay their age for a ticket. Seniors aged 60 and over (at 27 July 2012) will pay £16. These ‘pay your age’ ticket prices and senior ticket prices will be available at one-third of the 640-plus sports events.

Opening Ceremony tickets start from £20.12.

The price of a ticket for a wheelchair space includes a companion seat located next to it.
Please note: all ticket prices are in UK pounds sterling (£) and apply to tickets that will be purchased at www.tickets.london2012.com. Tickets are only available for sale via this website to residents of the UK or a designated European country.
Residents outside the UK should purchase tickets from their local National Olympic Committee (NOC) or their Authorised Ticket Reseller (ATR). In time, prices will be listed on the NOC/ATR websites in the local currency and will be subject to a London 2012 approved international sales channel service charge.
View all Olympic Games ticket prices
We will announce Paralympic Games ticket prices separately in 2011.
The draft daily Olympic Games competition schedule has also been released. View the draft competition schedule
Over the coming months, we will be telling you all about how you can buy tickets and when they go on sale.
To make sure your family and friends don’t miss out on this exciting information, encourage them to sign up and register their interest in London 2012 ticketing."

Had a look, they're fairly pricy. I'm also not sure what the difference is between a final and a super final?

Basically if I was going, I'd like to spend a few days at least watching the athletics, specifically the 5000 and 10000 metres, as well as the 100 metres (I want to see Usain Bolt) so I guess it would be nice to get to the heats and the final when he's racing. Not sure how to organise that though with the tickets. I need to read more about how they're allocated and how to apply for the events you want to see.

Don't think the prices look too bad to me, if you look at the cost of going to an internationl Football match now , So a full session of athletics works out better. To me thats seem good value, I guess a super final is when you will have multiple finals.

You could be right, I was kind of just focusing on the £450 tickets for some reason!

Has there been any update on what the super-final tickets covers? Being a greedy fecker, I'd like to see the final of most of the track athletics competitions, including the marathon. I wouldn't be opposed to forking out a bit extra for that ticket, perhaps £250 plus if it was a full day's events.

I dare say I'd buy a few tickets for the heats and stuff.

Can I assume if you get a ticket for the athletics in the Olympic stadium, it's an all day ticket?

No, you can't assume that. Athens had morning, afternoon and evening sessions and the stadium was cleared after each.

Looks like the Marathon finishing line will not be in the Olympic Stadium

    £750 for a ticket!!!

The Olympic ethos promotes unity, inclusion and
opportunity, and the modern Olympic Games have
helped break down social barriers and bring sport
to many people around the globe.
From here: Is it ok to use

As I understand it, to buy tickets online you can only use a Visa card (official partner).

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,144 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

Can I pay by cash or debit card?
In recognition of Visa's support of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, London 2012 will only accept Visa payment cards (debit, credit and prepaid) along with cash and cheques.

Not sure how you go about paying in cash for the tickets though, but Visa of one form or another are relatively easy to come by

I wonder how bad the £20 & £50 seating is.

I'm also curious how amazing the seats for the £725 seats will be!!

I'd want to be presenting Hussain Bolt his medal for £725

I'd only probably buy basketball tickets - then go to the free things.

I'll probably be going for middle range tickets for the athletics. They're expensive alright but it's not something you'd be doing too often. You can't take it with you when you die anyway ;)

Looks nice when I view my bank account though.

    800m
    1500m
    5K
    10K
    Marathon

The womens 100m hurdles and the mens 400m as well surely. Might see an irish medal in those.

well visa arent going to make it easy for customers of their biggest rival to buy tickets since they are sponsoring it!

They have been saying all along that Visa will be the only card accepted. I had to apply for one when I saw that.

Well you could probably post a cheque?:D

Has anyone registered with the Irish Olympic council ticket sellers? Will the tickets be priced the same through them?

You are right, add those to the list.

Yeah, it could be expensive alright. The Superfinal tickets might be a way to get to see a lot of the events without having to drop a ton of money for each individual event.

At least there's no rush on it and you've 6 weeks to pick and choose which tickets to go for.

Wow, pretty cheeky that the only credit cards you will be allowed to use for tickets and at the events are Visa ones.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,144 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

Is a bit restrictive alright, but if they get a few more people signed up for Visa cards then they will be happy.

You'll only be able to drink Coke, eat McDondalds, wear Nike, take photos with Nikon cameras and wipe your behind with Andrex as well whilst in the Olympic Park. *

    * May not be true.

May well be true, and the natives can only travel between 1200 and 0700

Bit over the top but the barstewards are suggesting that we ( long suffering paying commuters) work our traveling around the influx of people who will be traveling during the Olympic month (Corporate Grab fest more like)

Closing the public roads as well

I paying a fortune every month for a ****e service, and a magical mystery tour if I heavens forbid I want to go anywhere at the weekend

Would just love to see Boris on the tube on night

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,144 Mod ✭✭✭✭robinph

I'm sure I'd seen some claim that that the actual change in passenger numbers on the tube etc during the Olympics wouldn't be that massive to cause a problem. As in if there is 3.5 million people getting transported on the tube every day, then a 100,000 or so extra for a couple of weeks is really not that significant.

Have seen reports that the bonzana is an illusion in that regular tourists will stay away, but the numpty cheerleaders for this event are on local news every other day saying that Londoners should change their travel arrangments.

After being stuck on the tube for an hour, one does get a bit irate

Yet to meet anyone in London who wanted the frigging thing in the first place, even the Queen acknowledged that
