Not sure if this is correct place to ask but........

If someone was prosecuted for speeding in an area where speed limit sign was incorrect, what is the situation.

My reason for asking is that I've noticed that some a**holes, have turned two speed limit signs wrong way around on roads near my house. One place has 80/60 turned wrong way around. The other has 60/50 wrong way. If a stranger was in area, they could be misled.........

Should I contact the Gardai, the Council or just mind my own business?

Surely these signs gould be modified to ensure it's not so easy to have vandals mess with them.

County council, they will correct straight away. Of course you could always just turn them back.....

Could do.........but knowing my luck, would probably be accused of turning them wrong way. Will check on way home this evening to see if they have been corrected. rather than wasting anyone's time. Wouldn't worry too much about the 80/60 one, because Sebastien Loeb would be hard set to reach 60, not to mind 80 on that road, but the other ones could cause problems.

I just don't understand why they don't make signs with square poles. It would stop this vandalism immediately.

From memory the speed limit has to marked on entry into the zone in question and regularly & legibly throughout - can't remember where that is, somewhere in a statutory instrument.

That would mean that in theory one sign being tampered with shouldn't cause too much confusion as the signs should be repeated but the actual quality . That said, the quality of signage is really a moveable feast and reporting would be a decent move.
