Does anyone know if the original 1968 version of this camera operates correctly without batteries?

I did a Google.. but couldn't seem to find much info about the 1968 version of this camera... most articles discussed the later version released in the 70s.

    Cheers

I can't think off of the top of my head, but I've a feeling that without batteries, it'll shoot at 1/30th of a second - I think they were built soley with aperture priority in mind.

I could be wrong on that though. You could buy a converter for the batteries. Or better still, save up and get a Canonet GIII 17 :)

    Cheers for that.

I think you're right... 1/30th of a second without the battery (not sure if the aperture if fixed) so fairly useless without the battery.
