Before the bookie-bashing gets out of hand, I'd just point out that they're required to do this to insure criminals aren't laundering money by punting it.
Is it a pain in the swiss? Yes, it is. Is it the bookie's fault? No, it isn't.

I imagine this is a new requirement as I don't remember needing to do this when making my first withdrawal though it was probably a few years ago. I mainly use PP and it takes about 3 days for money to be lodged onto my credit card and only 2-3 to go into my bank account. Have a Betfair account aswell but don't use it too much and can't remember ever having the privelage to withdraw

Mastercard don't allow money to be put back on the card too so you'd have to get a chequeif you have one of them.
Its also common practice to id people using their site.
You only come on their radar if you deposit a large amount from a new account or you withdraw soon after a new account is opened.

whats the deal with that? not letting money being put on a credit card is just stupid?!

whatever about bookies having legal obligations etc it seems like its only one way i.e. very easy to put money in but difficult to take it out and they dont make it clear that it is difficult to withdraw. so **** them, it is their fault for being sneaky basturds

So, complying with financial regulations on money laundering and failing to make Mastercard take payments back onto their cards makes bookies sneaky basturds?

    I'm not following your logic.

I'd suggest using a Visa card in future. Most betting sites refund my Visa debit within a day.

I would suggest not using any credit/debit cards, bank transfers or traceable methods of payment for gambling transactions as these are automatically viewed in a negative light when applying for credit/mortgages, regardless of whether you win or lose.

Use a prepaid credit card, paysafe voucher, 3V, deposit in shop with Boyles or PP, etc.

AFAIK its the banks not mastercard that reject the payments but maybe its mastercard. i know this is not the sites fault.
im saying they are sneaky in respect to they let you pay with any method without maybe giving you a warning of how difficult it can be to withdraw.
i put money in recently with a mastercard then wanted to withdraw some funds some month later and discovered the only way i could get my money back was to pay a fee of £27 pounds for them to make a bank transfer.
if that aint sneaky i dont know what is!

One bit of advice that applies in this instance and so many others: always read the terms and conditions.
I can only be honest and say that payment methods haven't been a particular problem for me with any bookie. They're required by law to do certain things, and by banks and card providers to do others. They're jumping through a lot more hoops than you or I in all of this.
So, I don't consider that to be sneaky. It's the inconvenience you pay for the convenience of punting online.
Where I do think bookies are sneaky is when they refuse to pay out, claiming technicalities, or void legitimate bets and so on.
Hasn't happened to me too often, but every time is one time too many.

I understood the whole Id thing. But then there was an appropreaite form (took 5calls and 6days to have emailed to me) then its approved and waiting to pay for another 6days and I am now told it will be sent to the bank tomorrow and take another 7 to 10 days for my bank to get it. What the hell is wrong with this picture.

Blame Al Qaeda and the Westies.

Drug dealers and terrorists led governments to enforce money laundering legislation on banks, credit unions and other financial institutions, including betting sites.

The AML regulations impact here, but the gambling sites exploit them to make you keep money on your account.
Betfair put a "check" on my credit card making me provide proof of identity when I said I was closing my account due to an unrelated dispute. The thing was I had withdrawn some money the previous day and I was putting the money onto Paypal which had no relation to the credit card they were looking for information from. They eventually allowed me to withdraw without sending anything in, but they shouldn't be allowed to abuse the regulations in order to exploit their customers.

I have been testing out loads of poker rooms and when I try and withdraw everyone of them wants the following
    1. Photo ID
    2. scan copy of the front and back of the Credit Card you used to deposit

Some sites require you to send in a signed declaration form as well.

I dont see a problem with it to be honest (bar it being a pain in the arse) as it does prevent fraud to some extent.

I only use betfair for betting and never had any complaints withdrawing cash

Placed €297 into Betfair with the new TSB Visa Debit cards there during the week.

Had a little luck and wanted to take out €1100 and it would only allow me to withdraw €297 (the initial deposit) to the card.

IBAN is an option but the fees are greater that way.

Anyone know how long an IBAN transfer takes?

Does anyone know where the "Mastercard Restriction" is coming from? I don't remember having problems in the mists of time with it, haven't won anything in ages (would bet about 5 times a year if even) and now being told I need to get sent a cheque...
