Interior Design Experience

    Hi,

    I'm looking to gain some experience in interior design. I have a Higher Diploma in interior design and have won a design award in conjunction with Limperts Academy of Design and the Ideal Homes Exhibition in the RDS.

    I am working full time in another field, but would be willing to work any evenings or weekends for free to help out as an interior designer to gain some experience.

    Portfolio is available on request and I have also AutoCAD experience.

    I am based in the Galway area

    Any suggestions would really be appreciated

    Hi CocoLily,

    Did you try asking all the main interior designers in Galway? Don't know if I should really list them out here but there's about 3 or 4 designers or interior design shops that would be the first places I would go looking for experience. The current economy could either work for you or against you, they might be happy to have free help, or they might not be busy enough to need help at all.

    At the height of the Celtic Tiger I was looking for Interior Design related work and just kept asking and asking and applying etc, wrote a few articles for a lifestyle magazine and was a Style Editor for an Interiors magazine for a while, I don't know that any jobs like that would still be around now, I know that the job I did with that magazine is long gone.

    But yeah, I would say just pick a few and contact them, posting here will get very little attention from the people you're hoping to get interest from.
