I thought it may be a good idea to start a thread on classic car advertising imagery.....much of which isn't appropriate these days ;)

If anybody else has some, could they please scan or link it in to the thread :)

It doesn't have to be smutty but any old posters or ads would be great

Here's some to get us started

Wish I'd saved the photo's off my old work PC when I left. Was doing a survey of Euston underground station about 6 years ago and one of the disused passageways still had all the ads on the wall from the 60s, I'm sure I took piccies of the car adverts.

Here's some of mine, too many to load individually. Very few are actual ads, some don't even have ladies but all of them are very cool!

Yep, been in a few of them as well, seen some strange places :D

Wish I could remember what the ads were but recall thinking the writing was on the wall for the British motor industry even in the 60s.

Also recall getting off the boat in Dun Laoghaire in 1976 and seeing a big billboard ad for the Daihatsu Charade, something you wouldn't have seen in the UK at the time.

Great thread (especially the totally un PC ones), keep them coming!

I have a couple of vintage style (metal) advertisement signs for sale at the moment if anybody's interested.
They look good on the garage/office/bedroom wall!

    Brand new unopened items.
They are the larger version - 30cm x 40cm wide.

Click here for more details -

Advertising is very important for any products that matter, especially for automotive products. It helps the company to reach targeted customers and helps to be in the race. Those photos are really good is a good way to advertise cars. Nice post!
