Well would you, or are they gone out of fashion these days?

    A Corolla Verso Blandmobile, no.

A stonking Z, RX, MX, S15, GTR or something similar, : absolutely.

If the price was right. I had some buffoon of a used car salesman trying to tell me a couple weeks ago that an Avensis 2.0 auto with very low kms and no SH was worth more on account of being JDM.

I've had two, a 1993 Prelude I bought in 2009 and a 1995 Celica I bought in 2007. Celica was mint, Lude was rough enough but I'd defo buy a japper again should a suitable one come along.

jap yoks are usually better specced than the ukdm ****e we get here. shogun vs pajero is a very good example.

The mileage on Jap imports is always suspect. But they do tend to have a higher spec.

I've had many jap imports since the late 90's... Nothing wrong with them other then suspect mileage as already mentioned. No way in hell was the mileage on half of mine correct anyways...Missing screws from the clocks...strangely worn seats and steering wheels grips were the give aways for mine.

I'm buying one before the year ends :D

If it's something average that is readily available here for less money then I wouldn't bother. If it is something rare or never offically sold here like a performance car then yes. Either way I would not pay any attention to what the odometer reads as the guys on the boats over are not very creative and reset them all to around 50k km no matter what year they are.

Don't know how true it is though but I have also heard of parts like nice alloy wheels, sat nav or fancy stereos going missing or being replaced by cheaper stuff on the trip over too.

depends on the car really and condition

I drive a Jap import now. I have a thing about only buying Japanese cars, and with that in mind Id buy JDM over UKDM any day of the week. The level of spec for the price with the JDMs just blows the bottom of the barrell models we get in this country out of the water.

Yep I would. Have done, but I'd only bring it in myself direct from the auction, where I can see the auction report for myself(mileage, condition, spec etc). Which you get to keep BTW. Funny how they go "missing" when they get to here*. There are very very few trustworthy dealers on these cars out there. Certainly not when I looked at cars a few years ago going through auctions in Japan that ended up here, every single one of them was clocked. Some to a silly degree. Unless you know and trust the dealer and have the auction report, then you can bet your car was clocked. One mallet head I rang about a car told me it was coming in from the docks and could I wait. When I got there it had 40,000 km on the clock. Funny that a contact of mine in the docks had seen the same car a day previously with 100,000 +. More seriously two I saw were accident damaged(much cheaper) and "magically" repaired themselves on the boat over. Sadly the car trade seems to contain an awful lot of crooks. Worse IMHO the customers who see the car is a dodgy one and say "ah shure you expect that boss".

Bring it in yourself, have a better choice of cars, know the actual mileage and condition and save a few grand in the process.

*if they claim they never see the report, they're either a) lying or b) bought it at another job lot auction.
