Disneyland Dublin?

What ever happened to the disneyland style park, that was being planned for north Dublin about 5 years ago.

Remember the one that was suppose to be 8 times bigger then euro disney.

Create 25000 Jobs.

Just wondering because we could really do with those jobs now.

What was that theme park in the midlands a few years ago? Dino land or something was it?

The developers reailsed that the country was only big enough for one of those.

I have always thought that this would be a brilliant idea. On the basis of the cheap crap that is Disneyland this would be a money making machine and would boost tourism.

Funny when you read those old articles and they mention the names of certain developers that were planning these ventures... all you can think is, Oh I know him.. didn't I read about him being in court owing a few hundred million.

Probably better off that it didn't happen because likely the tax payer would have been paying for the "white elephant" at this stage...

I think it ran into serious financial difficulties - but I don't think it was a theme park with rollercoasters etc., but I'm not really sure.

It was run by Bryan Murray, now of Fair City fame. I think he was probably over optimistic with the idea. It was like the theme park from father ted. I remember one of the attractions (which you had to pay extra for) was being able to ride a three wheeled scooter around a circle for 5 minutes!Two months in to the project they were handing out free tickets to everyone and hoping to make their money through the extra purchase rides and merchandise but it was too little too late.

It wasn't a bad idea to be fair. It was just very poorly executed.
