Should I sell My Peugeot 307CC?

I bought a 307cc last March. It's a 2004, 1.6 with 45,000 miles on the clock. I got 6 months warranty when I bought it. It had to be fixed 3 times during the warranty period and again today (outside the warranty period). The first 3 repairs were mostly to do with electrical faults and something had to be replaced but I can't remember what it was as it was all covered. The repair today was done by my own mechanic and it was for basic faults ie 2 new bulbs and I had to get a new hub bearing for my wheel. Pretty standard although today I had to pay for it for the first time and it amounted to €319.

What worried me was that if the previous 3 repairs had been outside of my warranty I would have clocked up a pretty hefty expense by now. I mean, I only bought the car 6 months ago. Is this normal? Will this be an expensive continuing cycle? I know older cars will need services more regularly but I didn't think it was this much.

I bought it for €7,500. I was talking to my brother about maybe selling it and he said I would probably only get about €5,000 for it and would therefore lose roughly €2,500.

What if in 6 months time it needs another repair and it costs a lot more. Surely by then the car will have devalued even more and I will have had to pay out more money to fix it.

Should I sell now, take a hit on a bit of money and get a more reliable car or am I blowing this completely out of proportion? Is this to be expected from older cars? I bought it from an authorised Peugeot dealer.

Wrong time of the year to be trying to sell a drop top, unless you let it go cheap. Also there is no guarantee that your next car would be any more reliable.

To be honest €319 is not a huge bill especially to replace worn parts which in fairness is natural for a car going on 7 years old. I just spent €900 replacing a part on my Volvo that I am planning on selling over the next few months. I would love if it only cost €319 but fact of life is that cars cost money to buy, run and maintain.

Unless something major goes wrong with it I would keep it until at least next March/April when drop tops come back into fashion for the summer.

The question you should be asking is...can I sell my Peugeot 307CC?

Ye Peugeot also charge around €850 for a reconditioned dpf and additve topup..
Psa have introduced a new additive fluid which will help the dpf not to block before its time....i suppose time will tell if it will works or not....

Think we need to start a new thread on this subject..
