Hi Guys & gals need a bit of help. When I make or receive a call I cannot hear whom Im speaking to on normal headset mode. If I turn on speaker or headphones it works no problem. I don't think its an issue with the headphone jack as when I press a number on the key-pad I can hear it so it's not stuck in headphone mode.

Has anyone encountered this before & how did ye sort it?? Thanks so much, head wrecked!

Have you taken the plastic screen off that comes with the phone?

If you press the volume button does it say headphones? If so it thinks it has headphones in. Plug your headphones in and out a few times may resolve this. There are some videos on youtube to fix this if thats the case.
If not there could be fluff stuck in the bottom charge connector.

Defo not a headphone probelm, it says ringer as it should & when headphones plugged in it says headphones. This is really buggin me now. I've rebooted, reset & synced but no good unfortunately

I had the same problem last weekend but I had dropped mine into a bowl of water. I dried it out on a radiator for a few hours but it was the same. However, the next is was back to normal.
The little swim seemed to do the world of good because my signal strength has been great ever since.

I had the same problem, with my straight out of the box 3GS,and i have to say it was nothing but hassle with o2,i had it with a brand new phone and as i was only after buying it i was straight onto o2 about it,and they more or less washed their hands with it,they kept saying i had to send the phone back to apple that it wasn't their problem, but my argument was that i only bought the phone and from the very first call i couldn't hear through the receiver, and i didn't have a problem sending it to apple but what was i going to use in the mean time i sold my old phone and o2 said they wouldn't supply me with one,so after a very long thread on there forum and talks of "sales of good act",they gave me a phone to use while i sent the 3GS back, and in fairness to apple i had a new phone back in about 3 days.

do a hard reset (press down the home button and the power button together until the apple logo comes up)

this exact same problem happened mine today and this fixed it! :)
