Irish rail and ticketing policy

    I accidently shredded the ticket I was send out in the post. I was wondering would an e-mail confirming the online booking suffice for the train journey?

    No. An e-mail can be replicated / manipulated many times and in many ways so it wouldn't stand up.

    As far as Irish Rail are concerned, tickets are like cash, they can't be replaced if you lose them (or shred them!) so you'll just have to buy a new one.

    Much easier to lie and say it never came in the post, it's not registered post so not an exact science.

    Irishraiil should have no problem issuing you a duplicate ticket if you can provide them with the booking reference from the email you received when you booked the journey

    No,

    The ticket is in complete bits. At least I know the shredder works ok:D

    Thanks folks,
    I am going to hand in the e-mail at the gate. Unfortunately the shredder made a right dogs dirt of the ticket so there is no chance I will be able to use that

    I doubt very much the email will get you on the train, you will need a ticket.

    You're wasting your time bringing the email sheet, it's not a ticket, you won't be let on because you'll be subject to a 100e fine by rpu
