    hi,

Looking for some help here with regards to Facebook "Likes" pages. As they are part of your profile etc can they be referred to as:
    1) a feature of Facebook
    2) an application of Facebook

The other question I have is, some of these "Likes" pages are created by users of Facebook for example I can set up one about basketball and others can join it but what's the story with ones that come from sites such as iLike.com or coollikes.com etc Are they just sites where people can put up more random/controversial/offensive stuff then link it to Facebook?
There's ones such as "The awkard feeling you get when your walking in the wicklow mountains and you meet Larry Murphy". Some of these "likes" are pretty offensive and I'm interested to know what they are and how they are monitored if at all.

    thanks,
    c

Most websites will have a facebook "like" button, along with a digg/reddit button, twitter button, etc. Once someone clicks the facebook "like" button, it becomes a "like" in the person's facebook stream and shares it with their friends.

It's a fairly new thing, I'm not sure how monitored it is, my guess is that it's not at all. Some of it comes across as offensive but generally it's just meant as good, old-fashioned humour, and if something REALLY gets under your skin you're free to use facebook's report function.

Typically, though, things will only get cleaned up if they're racist, are a pedophilia ring, are a hate group, etc.

Sexist things don't get removed, nor do "offensive" jokes. So don't go nuts with the reporting, save it for serious stuff.
