Laptop repair recommendation.

    Can anyone recommend to me a good person/company who can repair my laptop?

    I've a list of problems, as long as your arm with my laptop. I've had it left it in for repairs at a local laptop repair shop for the last week and when I went in to collect it, the guy fixing it couldn't really tell me what was wrong with it, but he reckoned he had it sorted, I had my doubts, and low and behold when I got it back home 90% of the problems remain unresolved.

    Basically, given that he couldn't tell me what was wrong with it on collection, I have little confidence that he would be able to fix it second time round.

    So can anyone recommend a decent laptop repair tech?

    Thanks!

    Can the mod's please allow this thread to remain in this forum, as I wish to receive Galway related information only, thanks.

    Try this;
    Go to Laptops forum.
    In the search box "Search this forum" type Galway.
    It'll show you threads for Galway.
    Laptops forum isn't just for Dublin/Cork y'know :D

    Care to post or pm that list and I'll see what I can do.

    I've quite a few spares at the moment so I should be able to sort you out hopefully.

    Thanks to all for your helpful responses.

    I think that I have resolved my laptop issues myself, and this is after a very well known laptop repair shop told me they fixed it, but if it still gave trouble it would probably need a new motherboard/processor(it which case he advised me a new laptop would be cheaper!), charged me €50, and then when I got it home 90% of the problems remained!

    I dont mind the €50 labour charge, but FFS don't tell me my laptop it is fixed when it clearly isn't, and that I may possibility need to buy a new one because you are unable to fix it .

    Anyway if it is a help to anyone else, here's a list of the problems I had with the laptop and how I (hopefully) resolved them:
    1. Frequent blue screens
    2. Unexpected shutdowns
    3. Google crome, internet explorer, mozilla all crash.
    4. various othe programmes crash unexpectedly
    5. over heating, the fan is always on
    6. battery not detected

    I asked a lady in NUIG compuer services if she could recommend to me a good pc tech, she couldn't (other than the place I originally left it in to! )but she suggested that I;

    Go to
    -my computer,
    -Vista
    -Properties
    -Run Error checking

    And so far this 2 minute of set up, and a half an hour of letting the laptop do its thing has seemingly resolved all my problems!

    The mods can close the thread if they wish.

    If you're still having problems I'd be happy to have a look at it for you - I work in the NUI Galway (nuns island) and run a repair service in my spare time. PM me if you want!

    I'll push this over to Laptops now.

    You could run a memtest too, this will check your RAM.

    Many issues like yours are from overheating,
