Internet on a Mac in Gateway

Hi there!

So, I have a mac in Gateway, and can't seem to get onto the wifi. I keep getting the error 'airport is using a self assigned IP address and can not connect to the internet' or 'Airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet' I also can never see my room's wifi network. However, one of the others staying in the apartment has no issues with the Internet on his windows machine, and just leaves it connected 24/7.

Does anybody have any tips on how to connect? I consider myself fairly proficient at this sort of thing, so this is really annoying me at this point.

Best thing you can do is talk to the main lads or Arthur I would say!

Dude the internet here is just plain messed up,keeps disconnecting every so often

So you get intermittent disconnection, I get intermittent connection.

Yep...go bother the ISS guys...uni isint paying them to do nothing u know.....

Uni also isn't paying them to solve computer issues which have nothing to do with DCU.

bring it to the iss guys., i did everyhting under the moon to fix an internet problem with a computer in gateway, turns out it was the uninstalled antivirus that was blocking it from connecting. how simple., oh and the computer in question was belonging to a girl from DIT., they fixed it no bother ! so get the ISS guys to do it !

Am waiting to hear back from the Gateway people about it, will give them the chance first. Nice to hear that the ISS people are kind enough to help out with something outside their job requirement though!
